Kanha – The newly built restaurant with mezzanine floor!

Location & Intro:

Kanha is located just opposite to New Aliah Hotel and Caterers, Esplanade. To be more precise, Head straight from Paradise Cinema, Esplanade to Ganesh Chandra Avenue More, you will surely find while walking for 5-7 minutes. Kanha has been famous for it’s sweets, radha ballavi and some tasty food items such as sambar vada, idli and so on and so forth. This visit to Kanha was after few months. It has been totally refurbished and converted into a Restaurant which is located on the Mezzanine Floor. The ground floor is still serving some snacks and mithai’s. It is a purely vegetarian joint and has been working pretty well since it’s advent.

Previously, no cards were accepted. Now after the demonetization policy, cards are also accepted here. It has also expanded by opening another branch at 129, G.T. Road, Near Fazir Bazar, Shibpurr, Howrah, Shibpur, Howrah.

What i had here:

As i wanted to have a different experience, i sat at the Restaurant section. The ceiling of the place glows with round lights and the decor is made purely white which is quite mesmerising to the eyes with a little cafe touch to it with white fancy chairs. I was here with a friend to grab some bite post work and we thereon started with our orders:-

• Sambar Vada – Believe it or not, this place serves one of the best sambar in the city of joy. It has that tinge of sweetness which really soothes the palate well. The vada was dipped into sambar and served along with white chutney on the side. It was lipsmackingly good to taste.

• Masala Uttapam – I have had usual uttapam and onion uttapam but never masala uttapam. The uttapam was prepared by stuffing the masala aloo with little vegetables on top and frying it up. It also was served along with Sambar and Chutney. Was great to taste but quite stuffy after the sambar vada. If you are looking for heavy food, this is the right one to order for 100 bucks inclusive taxes.

• Gulab Jamun – We ordered for two Gulaab Jamuns which costed us 30 bucks all inclusive. It was served super hot and we literally did had to blow air while keeping it in the mouth. Hehe.

Pros:

• A pure vegetarian affair

• Hygienic

• Prices are kept reasonably low

• Ambiance is nice

• Service is quite fast

This place offer lipsmacking tasty food to office goers, students as well as passers by. If you are in this area and want to satiate your taste buds by having light food, this is the right place for you.
